DOT Physical

The Department of Transportation (DOT) requires that most truck/van/bus drivers and commercial motor vehicle drivers have physical exam every two years in order to renew their license. School bus drivers in some counties, however, must have their license renewed yearly.

During the physical exam we will check your height, weight, blood pressure, vision, and hearing,

and a physical examination will be done by a highly qualified doctor.

If you wear glasses, be sure to bring them with you to your exam. We will also ask you to give us urine specimen.

If you are on medication for a chronic disease such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or heart disease, you will need to bring with you a note from your regular family doctor stating that your condition is stable, that you are being evaluated on a regular basis, and that you are considered medically capable of driving a truck/bus/van.

Some employers will request that you have urine drug screen and breath alcohol testing

at the time of your physical exam.

If you pass the exam a certificate is issued on the spot. In some cases, the result of the exam

may only allow a certificate to be issued for only 3 or 6 months pending Revaluation.
